A selection of the work that I have done and examples. The first section denotes work that I have done at University as part of my degree. It varies a lot as I changed from Electronic Engineering (BEng) to Interactive Computing (BSc) in the second year but was able to join as a second year without taking first year. The second part shows the work done at work experiences.

University Work:

(IM) Web Application Design and Development (February 2017)

First Assignment:

Designed and developed a website to advertise something using HTML5 and CSS only, including a 1000 word report explaining and justifying design and implementation decisions. The website is responsive to the width of the page and changes its layout if being used by a tablet. The report explains and justifies the information architecture, layout (how it is adapted to be suitable for different screen sizes) and visual design.

(IM) User Experience Design (February 2017)

First Assignment:

Conducted a short user research study, gathering information on the IBM Planning Analytics Web Interface and created a prototype of a design solution that responds to my findings in the form of a individually drawn slides in a presentation. Includes a short design report covering the user research conducted, insights, design concept and critical reflection.

(IM) Interactive Media and Society (November 2016)

Two essays, one 1500 and one 3500 on current topics

First Essay:

“Not to lie about the future is impossible, and one can lie about it at will‟. Barbrook and Cameron begin their essay on the Californian ideology with this quote from artist Naum Gabo. Why is the future, and the myths around it, so central in the Californian ideology? (2:1, 66%)

Second Essay:

Critically examine the role of online surveillance technologies and practices in shaping the contemporary digital world – whether in therms of its impacts upon digital labour, participatory culture, digital activism, or online identities. Refer to appropriate reading on the model for this, but also bring in your own examples. (2:1, 65%)

(IM) Media Production for Interactive Environments (November 2016)

3D Game created in Unity using C# Scripts (First Class, 75%)

(EE) Logic Diagram using gates for Traffic Light System

Logic diagrams created through use of State Output Tables converted to K-Maps then fitted into a design using traditional logic gates.

(EE) Simple game in C

Use of basic skills in C to create a 2D game with its own UI. Use of functions and basic loops.

(EE) Computer Operating Systems and Interfacing

Write a set of functions in C that display text on a LCD screen driven by the  HD44780 controller IC using the Cortex-M4 Processor.

(EE) Computer Operating Systems and Interfacing

Create a game that runs on the CortexM boards, using the buttons and LEDs to their full potential.

Work Experience:

Singapore Botanical Gardens

    • Implementation of lean detection devices on trees – putting up and maintenance of current systems and thoughts for development in the future with possible upgrades
    • Creation of cloud based tree lean recording system using Google Drive Forms with password protection and photograph upload function. Includes a folder for each tree
    • Organised into a very easy to use user interface with instructions for adding new trees other than those already implemented in simple terms stored in the Drive Account
    • QR codes deployment available if needed and cross platform compatibility for any device with a QR reading application installed
    • Scripts created in JavaScript

  • Worked to create proposals for clients and new projects.
    PR training – preparing press releases, managing media pitches and media tracking
  • Advertising – both digital and printed, learnt best practice and most effective communication methods, creation of posters, leaflets and other media
  • MailChimp email blasts with creation of graphics
  • Management and development of new venture: http://www.wearto.com including warehouse sales, emails and supplier relations
  • Management of IT systems – recommended solutions to problems, fixed problems with the IT systems and taught others how to use FaceBook – posting effectively along with expansion of likes using competitions, scheduled posts and certain graphic and typing styles

York Marrow Newsletters

  • As Vice President/Treasurer of the York Marrow (Anthony Nolan) Society, I regularly put out email newsletters
  • Have to keep up to date with current goings on within the group
  • Following the font and design created by the Anthony Nolan website
  • Creating template that others can customise and use
  • Creation and editing of mailing lists in Gmail, including mass imports
  • Management of Twitter, Facebook and Facebook group
